Welcome to Volae Recumbent Bikes 2010!
Volae recumbent bikes are designed for riders that want comfort but do not want to give up on performance.
It’s fairly easy to make a recumbent bike that’s fast down hill and it’s not too tough to make a recumbent
bicycle fast on flat terrain. Making a recumbent that climbs well is another story all together.
A well designed recumbent bike should not only be fast on flat terrain and downhill but should also do well
when climbing hills. All Volae recumbent bikes are designed with climbing in mind. Rolf loves to ride in
the Mississippi River bluffs in Western Wisconsin and he wanted a recumbent bicycle that would get him up
the steepest hills in that area. The frame, seat stays, seat, chain management and steering geometry are
all designed to give you a recumbent bicycle that performs well when climbing.

Karen Gay took this picture of her Volae on the Karakoram Highway, which runs from China to Pakistan.

There’s something about the Volae Team Carbon’s performance that is more than one would expect.
At 21 Lbs. (Painted medium frame without pedals) it’s about four pounds lighter than the Volae Team, but the response
when you “hit the gas” makes it feel even lighter. And, if all that improvement in performance is not enough, the ride
quality is nothing short of amazing."

The future of traveling is here today with the NEW VOLAE ES frames. Whether
you want a Dual 650 high racer, a Dual 26” high racer or a 26/20 touring recumbent
to take on trips overseas or across the states, you won’t have to compromise
performance when you ride a Volae recumbent with the ES option. The cleverly
engineered frame separates in the middle to facilitate packing in a standard
bike travel case while preserving the high performance that you demand.
Some travel bikes compromise performance to make the bike extremely compactible
for traveling. Volae chose to retain the legendary Volae performance even though
it means that you may have to pay an extra fee to take your bike with you. The ES is a $650 option.
